i specialize in fine art platinum/palladium prints.

light-sensitive noble metal salts are handmixed and handcoated onto fine art archival paper. the markings you see around the images are the brushstrokes, which can be matted out in a displayed print or shown to highlight the handcrafted nature of the images.

the images tend to have a warm brown-black tone, though by adding gold chloride a cool bluish-grey tone can be brought out in the highlights.

these prints are also often referred to as platinotypes and date back to the early days of photography. the process reached its heyday in the 1890s and early 1900s. kodak produced a commercial platinum paper but the advent of world war one and the soaring price of platinum killed the process.

in recent years these older so-called alternative photographic processes have enjoyed a revival amongst artists and photographers, the platinum/palldium print being amongst the most popular due to the quality of the image it can produce.
